The couple who died following a house fire in the Swinford area of County Mayo yesterday morning have been named locally as Tom and Eileen Mahon.
Originally from Ballaghaderreen, they were a well-known and respected couple in their sixties who had run a furniture business in the area prior to their retirement.
The fire broke out at around two o'clock on Tuesday morning in the Deerpark area of Swinford.

Both were pronounced dead at the scene before their bodies were removed to Mayo University Hospital in Castlebar for post-mortem examinations.
Gardaí sealed off the two-storey property to carry out a forensic examination. Inquiries are ongoing.
