Councillors in Leitrim are calling on Waterways Ireland to extend the opening hours for toilet blocks in Drumsna, Rooskey and Dromod.
Councillor Des Guckian has asked Leitrim County Council to install facilities at local playgrounds to facilitate families using amenities.
Officials say that funding for playgrounds extend only to providing and maintaining equipment and would not be sufficient to cover toilets.

Councillor Finola Armstrong Maguire says a solution would be to renew the call to Waterways Ireland to extend the opening hours of its amenities in the areas.
