Councillors in Longford are calling for a new bypass to reduce traffic and improve safety in Ballymahon. They want Transport Infrastructure Ireland to explore options for the N55. A motion was put forward at today's meeting of Ballymahon Municipal District urging the local authority to seek funding.
They say other towns of a similar size have benefitted from a bypass. Cllr Martin Skelly says it's badly needed for the town:
