A Roscommon councillor says online commentary around the co-option of Michael Holland was 'an injustice' to the late Anthony Waldron. Holland was selected to replace the late councillor by 13 votes to 3 at a special meeting of Roscommon County Council on Monday. The Ballintubber man received the backing of the Waldron family as well as the alliance that controls the council. Gail Murray received three votes on Monday while Ernie Draper from the Athlone area received none. Cllr Michael Frain voted with the alliance while Cllrs Valerie Byrne, Leah Cull and Tony Ward voted for Murray - Nigel Dineen abstained from the vote.
