A Longford Councillor has called for a meeting with Irish Rail over plans for a fast track line from Mullingar to Dublin.
Fine Gael's Peggy Nolan wants the fast track line to start from Longford and believes the town could be at a disadvantage if it's not implemented.
The issue has also been raised at recent council meetings in Leitrim.
Cllr Nolan says she doesn't want Longford to be left behind when it comes to public transport:
