Council urged to 'step up to the plate' to develop new fire station in Ballymahon

It comes as €3 million was announced for the new facility in the Longford town.

Longford County Council needs to 'step up to the plate' following the allocation of €3 million for a new fire station. That's the view of community activist Niall Dowler after the money was confirmed for a new station in Ballymahon.

There's also €3 million for upgrade works in Athlone, €2 million for Carrick-on-Shannon and €500,000 for Ballaghaderreen. Niall Dowler of the Ballymahon Town Team wants to see the funding put to good use:
