Cost of living a big factor in Fianna Fáil's by-election losses - Daly

It was a bad weekend for Fianna Fáil in both by-elections, with a second last finish in Dublin Central for John Stephens, and Cillian Keane coming fifth in Galway West.

A local Fianna Fáil TD says his party's by-election defeats were a sign of people's anger over the cost-of-living crisis.

Fine Gael's Seán Kyne won in Galway West and the Social Democrats' Daniel Ennis triumphed in Dublin Central.

Roscommon-Galway TD, Martin Daly, says the cost of living was a factor:

Sinn Féin leader Mary Lou McDonald is also under pressure, after two defeats as leader of the opposition.

But Carrick-on-Shannon councillor Cormac Flynn doesn't think there's questions about her leadership:
