Four candidates will battle for Senator Gareth Scahill's Roscommon council seat in two weeks' time, it has been confirmed.
The nomination process closed tonight and former councillor Michael McGreal, from Ballinlough, Castleplunkett's Ruth Connolly-Conboy, Ballintubber's Maria McCahill and Roscommon town's Robbie McConn are in the hat.
They will contest the selection convention in Tully's Hotel in Castlerea on April 14th and the winner will replace Scahill, who quit the council last month after being chosen as a senator.
Fine Gael members from the Roscommon Local Electoral Area, which includes Castlerea, are eligible to vote.
