Concerns local students will face issues voting if election held during Leaving Cert

While a date hasn't been officially confirmed for the election, it's believed it will take place in the first week of June.

Leaving Certificate Students are at risk of facing barriers when it comes to the 2024 Local Election according to a Leitrim election candidate.

Green Party Candidate Adam O'Ceallaigh has warned of the possibility of polling day taking place in the midst of State exams.

While a date hasn't been officially confirmed for the election, it's believed it will take place in the first week of June.

The 21 year old Ballinamore Candidate has raised concerns that thousands of local students face difficulties in engaging with the political system if voting takes place on the same day as a Leaving Cert exam.

Speaking to Shannonside FM News, Adam is calling for the election to be held on a weekend to ensure students have a chance to separate the exam from the election:
