A cold snap is set to hit the Shannonside region this week, with frost, ice, freezing fog and snow in places.
The worst of the icy conditions is expected across parts of north Connacht and Ulster, with snow likely on higher ground from tomorrow into Saturday.
Temperatures could drop as low as minus five degrees in some inland areas, and daytime highs will struggle to rise above freezing in parts of the north and north-west.
Motorists are being urged to drive carefully, check lights, tyres and windscreen wash, and allow extra time for any journeys.
The cold weather is expected to continue into next week, even as most areas remain dry and clear.
