A native of Ballymahon, who lived in Mullingar in recent years, he owned the Greville Arms Hotel in Mullingar and the Bridge House Hotel in Tullamore.

The funeral mass of hotelier and businessman Christy Maye has been remembered as having an extraordinary business sense at his funeral mass this afternoon. A native of Ballymahon, who lived in Mullingar in recent years, he owned the Greville Arms Hotel in Mullingar and the Bridge House Hotel in Tullamore.

He was one of the founders of the popular Tullamore Show and he also brought the first ever disco to Ireland. Gifts were brought to the altar to symbolise his loves in life including a trophy of a horse, a family photo and a restaurant menu. During his homily, Fr Seamus Houlihan said Christy was always looking to help people in need:
