Roscommon County Council has given the go-ahead for an energy-storage plant in Castlerea – despite an objector claiming it could cause a death.
Old Mill Energy wants to build it on a 1.5-acre site at Knockmurray.
It’d include a battery energy storage-system compound, with battery energy-storage containers.
The council has granted planning permission, with 21 conditions, despite two objections.
One person claimed the plant could overheat, causing a fire, explosion, and fatality.
