Several Carrick-on-Shannon residents have said they'll oppose the route of the town's bypass. The project was included in the National Development Plan yesterday. Construction is due to start in 2028, and it will cost up to €500 million. It will involve a 6-kilometre bypass of Carrick, from the Dublin Road to the Boyle Road.
