Catherine Connolly says she will be a president for all, as she was confirmed as president-elect last night.
She secured more than 900 thousand votes in the election, beating Fine Gael's Heather Humphreys and Fianna Fáil's Jim Gavin, who withdrew from the race earlier this month.
Ms. Connolly will succeed President Michael D. Higgins when she's inaugurated on the 11th of November.
Carrick-on-Shannon's Lola Gonzalez Farrell, from the Social Democrats, campaigned for Catherine Connolly.
She says she'll be a great president.
