A local tidy towns organisation is urging the public to be more considerate when throwing household items away.
In a post to social media, Carrick on Shannon Tidy Towns condemned an incident of illegal dumping in the area.
A number of household items including a chair were left on top of the memorial to Fr Martin Mulvaney located in Cortober.

Carrick on Shannon Tidy Towns have condemned the incident and confirmed it has been reported to Roscommon County Council.
They're urging people to donate large items to charity shops or give it away on a community swap page.
