Carrick on Shannon councillors have ruled out traffic lights being installed at Rooskey bridge. The issue was discussed at today's Carrick on Shannon Municipal District meeting. A survey of over 600 people, which was presented at todays meeting, showed that 84% would be against a traffic light system being installed.
A cantilever bridge remains the preferred option amongst Leitrim councillors with an estimated cost of €2m. However, the National Transport Authority say they will only support a traffic light system which is estimated to cost almost €500,000.
