There were jubilant scenes in Carrick-on-Shannon on Friday evening as locals gathered to celebrate the town’s double success in this year’s SuperValu Tidy Towns Awards.
The Leitrim town was named Ireland’s Tidiest Town for 2025, also taking home the title of Ireland’s Tidiest Small Town.
Hundreds of people lined the streets of Carrick-on-Shannon, waving flags and cheering as community volunteers and Tidy Towns committee members and volunteers arrived home to a hero’s welcome.
Known for its picturesque riverside setting and strong community spirit, the town impressed judges with its environmental initiatives, creative planting schemes, and commitment to sustainability.
Carrick-on-Shannon topped more than 880 entries from towns and villages across the country to claim the overall Tidiest Town in Ireland title — the first time the town has taken the top national award.
