Today's Carrick-on-Shannon Municipal District meeting has been postponed as a mark of respect to former Cllr Des Guckian. The Annaduff man died last month after a short illness, while aged in his 70s. He served as an Independent on Leitrim County Council for 11 years, representing the Carrick-on-Shannon Local Electoral Area.
The meeting has been rescheduled until next Monday, when a new Cathaoirleach for the Carrick MD will also be elected. Fianna Fáil Cllr Sean McGowan says it was the right decision to adjourn today's meeting:
