The campaign against the 'downgrading' of Ballinasloe's maternity unit is set to escalate in the coming weeks. The Portiuncula Maternity Alliance is considering a protest outside the Dáil when it resumes on September 17th. 2,000 people attended a demonstration in Ballinasloe 10 days ago.
They're annoyed no high-risk mothers can be seen in the unit anymore. Cllr Evelyn Parsons co-founded the Portiuncula Maternity Alliance:
