Calls made to re-develop former factory in Ballaghaderreen

There are calls for the former Dawn Meats factory in Ballaghaderreen to be developed - in an attempt to address the town's high unemployment rate.
The plant shut in 2008, with the loss of 200 jobs, and has remained vacant ever since.

It comes as Ballaghaderreen's unemployment rate is 24 per cent - which is six times Ireland's overall joblessness rate.
Fianna Fáil local elections candidate, Aidan Sampey, who works in the Aurivo dairy plant in Ballaghaderreen, says the former Dawn Meats plant has potential.
