A local councillor, meanwhile, says adequate parking should be made available at schools in County Roscommon. Cllr Laurence Fallon was speaking after serious safety concerns were raised at Newtown National School near Ballinasloe. Parents say children are being put at risk when being dropped off and collected from the school.
The issue was discussed at yesterday's meeting of Athlone Municipal District. Cllr Fallon says parking spaces must be made a priority during the planning process for new school buildings:
