Boil Water Notices have been issued for customers on the Castlerea and Granard public water supply schemes.
Around 4,400 customers in Castlerea town, Ballintober, Trien, Kilmurray, Castleplunkett, and surrounding areas are affected following increased cloudiness in the water at Longford Springs Water Treatment Plant.
Meanwhile, approximately 2,800 customers on the Granard supply are impacted due to operational issues at the Lough Kinale Treatment Plant.
All customers in the affected areas must boil water before drinking, making ice, preparing food, or brushing teeth.
The water is safe however for personal hygiene, bathing, and flushing toilets.
Roscommon Councillor Paschal Fitzmaurice is urging those impacted in Castlerea to be vigilant and comply with the notice.
Speaking to Shannonside News, he said the heavy rainfall over the past several days, combined with a number of ESB power outages in the area, has disrupted the treatment and processing of water.
Uisce Éireann says crews are working to resolve both issues as quickly and safely as possible.
Customers can check if their property is affected at www.water.ie or by calling 1800 278 278.
