Bob Geldof says he loved playing in Boyle last night – after he once couldn’t get a gig in nearby Carrick-on-Shannon.
The rock star and his band, the Boomtown Rats, were the headline act in Lough Key Forest Park last night.
Up to 5,000 people crammed into the north Roscommon venue yesterday for the Night and Day Festival. Geldof says he would like to play there again, describing the audience as "fantastic".
He also says he enjoyed a relaxing time in Carrick-on-Shannon beforehand, visiting a local coffee shop, the former workhouse and a famine memorial.
After the concert, he spoke to our reporter Eoghan Murphy, where he also recalled his memories of Lough Key Forest Park as a child:
