Roscommon Fire Service have brought a fire under control that had engulfed fields and forestry near Loughglynn in west Roscommon. Up to 40 firefighters battled the blaze in the Cloonfower area for over 12 hours. Fire services from Ballaghaderreen, Boyle, Ballyhaunis and Charlestown were involved in the action.
With high temperatures expected today, Fire Service Officers across the region are urging people not to light fires or BBQs in fields or forests. Motorists are also urged not to throw cigarette butts out of car windows due to the risk of starting a wildfire.
