A local bishop hopes the newly elected Pope will visit Ireland in the future. Robert Francis Prevost will now lead the pontificate under the name of Pope Leo XIV. The new Pope holds both U.S. and Peruvian citizenship, and is the first pope from the United States. Bishop Martin Hayes of the Diocese of Kilmore says his nationality may prove to be a positive influence on today's political climate:
