The Bishop of Achonry is urging people not to worry if they cannot attend mass on Christmas Eve or Christmas Day.

Restrictions on the number of people who can attend masses are set to be in place throughout the festive period, with some parishes increasing the number of masses being held to accommodate increased interest in religious ceremonies.

Bishop Paul Dempsey is urging people to show understanding and cooperation to local parishes and volunteers working in churches to maintain Covid guidelines.
In a video message on Facebook, Bishop Dempsey, who is based in Ballaghaderreen,  says if people can make mass at least once during the pandemic that would be a positive :
