Big relief in Budget 2021 for local business

As expected, Budget 2021 was a big one for businesses - especially those who have been hardest hit by Covid-19.

The Employer Wage Subsidy Scheme was a key measure in helping businesses to survive.

Emer Joyce, Accountant with Grant Thornton in Longford says its extension is coming as a huge relief to businesses that were depending on State support to make it through.

Businesses will now get up to €5,000 a week if they're forced to close due to Covid-19 restrictions.

The payment will be calculated based on its 2019 weekly turnover.

Ian Talbot from Chambers Ireland says it will enable firms to plan ahead.
