An east Galway native is hoping to represent Ottawa in this year's Rose of Tralee festival.
Ballygar native Deirbhile McDermott who received Canadian residency in 2021 is taking part in the festival's selection night in Ottawa tonight.
Deirbhile currently works as an elementary school teacher with the Western Quebec School Board.

Also taking part in the event is Amy McDonald whose mother hails from Mountbellew in Co. Galway.
