A nursing home in Ballinasloe is appealing to the HSE for immediate help after the majority of its staff and residents have tested positive for Covid in recent days.
Nightingale Nursing home has been left with just half-a-dozen staff after test results confirmed an outbreak.
Local GP Martin Daly tweeted earlier today that just one nurse and one carer were available due to the outbreak and as many as 26 residents are affected.
It's understood that one resident has died from Covid and another is ill in hospital.
The HSE has been contacted for a statement.
