Ballaghaderreen works to benefit multi-nationals not local shops-Murphy

A former Roscommon politician claims controversial revamps of local towns benefit multinationals and ruin small shops.

Nearly 500 people protested against Ballaghaderreen's public realm enhancement on Sunday.

They're annoyed at the loss of 47 car-parking spaces and the widening of footpaths.

There's been anger over similar plans in other towns, and Eugene Murphy says compromise is needed.
