A mural will be launched in Ballaghaderreen tomorrow in remembrance of the abolition of corporal punishment. It's on the former De La Salle Brothers School - which is now known as the Family Resource Centre. Corporal punishment was scrapped by then Education Minister John Boland in 1982.
His daughter, Fine Gael TD Grace Boland, will launch the mural tomorrow afternoon at 2 o'clock. Joe Egan says he regularly got corporal punishment in the De La Salle school in the 1970s:
