A public meeting has heard of growing opposition to the proposed construction of modular homes for refugees in Ballaghaderreen. The Local Government Management Agency recently revealed plans to install 167 modular homes across four sites in County Roscommon. However, Roscommon County Council has so far received hundreds of submissions against the proposals. There was widespread anger at a public meeting last night over plans to develop 47 units in the Little Oaks area of Ballaghaderreen. The meeting , which was organised by a group calling themselves Ballaghaderreen Concerned Citizens, was attended by around 170 people. A number of local public representatives also addressed last night's meeting including Sinn Féin TD Claire Kerrane and a number of local councillors. Fianna Fáil Senator Eugene Murphy agreed with speakers who said Ballaghaderreen had done its share when it came to welcoming refugees:
