Shareholders of Aurivo Co-op will discuss a potential merger with Dale Farm Co-op in Roscommon town next week.
It's one of a series of information meetings taking place this month.
Dairy plant Aurivo specialises in the production of liquid milk, powders and butter.
It's a big employer in the Shannonside region, with a state-of-the-art production factory in Ballaghaderreen.
The company has a long history in the west Roscommon town, coming there in 1972.
They also have Homeland stores in Ballaghaderreen, Boyle, Athleague, Castlerea, Mohill, Longford, and Kiltoghert outside Carrick-on-Shannon.
These sell farm produce, along with gardening and hardware goods.
Aurivo is proposing to merge with Dale Farm Co-op, which specialises in cheese and whey production.
Aurivo is holding shareholder information meetings next week - in Letterkenny and Sligo next Monday, the Abbey Hotel in Roscommon town tomorrow week, and Claremorris the following day.
Aurivo says no binding agreement on a merger has been entered into yet and any deal would need to be approved by the boards of both co-ops.
