Athlone woman who died in aftermath of Galway crash named locally

The car in which the mother of two was travelling in hit a wall and entered the water in Menlo in Galway almost two weeks ago.

An Athlone woman who passed away in Hospital yesterday following a Galway road crash earlier in the month has been named locally.

Irene Lynch was pronounced dead yesterday at University Hospital following the single vehicle crash on the 15th of March.

The car in which the mother of two was travelling in hit a wall and entered the water in Menlo in Galway almost two weeks ago.

The 34 year old was pregnant with her third child.

The driver, a man in his 40s, was also brought to hospital at the time for injuries not thought to be life-threatening.

Gardaí are asking anyone who was in the Menlo area that morning and may have dash-cam footage to contact them.
