Athlone and Midland Samaritans are looking for new volunteers to help run the local service. The suicide prevention helpline offers those struggling to cope somewhere to turn in times of need.
Volunteer Anne McGrath says the work is crucial and those who help also find it highly rewarding. Speaking to Shannnonside News, she encouraged members of the public to attend an information night this week in Athlone:
