Anti-refugee protestor to run as Independent in Roscommon-Galway

A man who organised a protest against refugee accommodation planned for Castlerea, is running in the general election. Vincent Beirne, from nearby Fairymount, is running in the Roscommon-Galway constituency as an Independent.

In May, he campaigned against plans for 52 refugees to be housed in Riverwalk apartments in Castlerea. Mr Beirne says he's running as an anti-Government candidate.
