A meeting will take place this evening in Roscommon town as opposition to asylum seeker accommodation grows. The Roscommon Says No to IPAS group has said it would stage a public meeting in the coming weeks. The group had previously asked for assistance from members of the public as it seeks to continue its campaign.
It follows an application earlier this year by Noel Whelan to use a property on Goff Street for those seeking international protection. The decision has been referred to An Bord Pleanála after Roscommon County Council refused planning on public safety grounds. A decision by the higher planning authority is due on August 18th.
