An anti-IPAS campaigner has hit out at what he says is a lack of transparency around the planning process. Roscommon man Cyril Martin was speaking at a protest in the town over the weekend. Over 200 people attended the demonstration against plans for asylum seeker accommodation in the town. It follows an application by Noel Whelan to house those seeking International Protection at Academy House on Goff Street.
Roscommon County Council refused planning permission on public safety grounds earlier this year. An Bord Pleanala is due to decide whether the property is an exempt development next month.
