A driver in Westmeath is facing a court date following an incident earlier this week.

Gardaí from Delvin Roads Policing Unit were called to the scene of a collision involving a van and a pole just off the N4 at Cullion Beg, Mullingar last Saturday night.

The van had reportedly traveled up the slip road and hit a lamp post, narrowly missing an ambulance which was en-route to hospital with a patient.
