Almost €1 million has been earmarked for the repurposing of vacant sites across Co. Roscommon. The allocation was announced this morning under the Rural and Regeneration Development Fund. The Rural Regeneration and Development Fund is a capital investment scheme which supports projects that have the potential to revitalise rural towns and villages. The planned and sustainable regeneration aims to drive greater economic activity and footfall, as well as address vacancy and dereliction.
A total of just over €976,000 has been announced for rural regeneration projects in Co. Roscommon. This includes €691,000 for the redevelopment of vacant sites in Ballaghaderreen. While over €280,000 will be invested in the change of use of two vacant and derelict Garda stations in Termonbarry and Ballintober. This will facilitate the construction of creative community and tourism hubs, aiming to deliver economic benefits in the two villages.
