Almost 60 gardai in the Shannonside region were injured after being assaulted on duty over the past two years. There were 39 in 2024 and 18 last year.
Four gardai in Leitrim and Sligo were injured due to attacks in 2025 - and 14 in Roscommon, Longford and Mayo. Sligo-Leitrim TD Martin Kenny, from Sinn Fein, is condemning the practice:
