Almost 4,300 Ukrainians living in the Shannonside region after fleeing war

North Roscommon has the highest number of people in emergency accommodation.

There are almost 4,300 Ukrainian refugees currently living in the Shannonside region.

North Roscommon has the highest number of people in emergency accommodation.

Figures from the CSO show there are currently 1,017 people from Ukraine currently living in the Boyle Municipal District (MD), the highest number in Roscommon and in the wider Shannonside region.

This is followed by the Carrick MD, where there are 822 Ukrainian people currently residing.

In the Ballinamore MD, there are 612 refugees listed as living there.

There are 584 Ukrainian refugees living in the Roscommon MD and Athlone MD has 145.

County Longford has recorded the lowest figures locally.

A total of 493 is the number in the Longford MD with 357 and 278 in the Ballymahon and Granard MDs respectively.
