999 patients were triaged with mental health related illnesses at Portiuncula University Hospital in 2025.
The figures were released as part of a response to local Cllr Alan Harney at this month's of the Regional Health Forum West.
In total, there were 1460 assessments undertaken in the ED in 2025 by the Mental Health team.

However not all of these patients would have a mental health issue as their primary reason for attending.
Cllr Harney feels an expansion of current services is needed:
