Involvement in a European University Network will allow Athlone Institute of Technology access to greater levels of funding for research and innovation.

The alliance of AIT with Limerick Institute of Technology for Techonological University status has paved the way for the consortium to receive approval to become part of the European Network of Universities.

Dr Niall Seery, Manager of the consortium project at AIT, says not only will membership of the network mean the ability to apply for larger research funding streams, it also prioritizes the development of higher education in the regions.
