Over 1,300 cars have been registered across the Shannonside region so far this year, down nearly 3 per cent on the same time last year.
The figures released by the Society of the Irish Motor Industry also reveal a steady rise of electric vehicle registrations.
The SIMI has published a report which outlines the number of cars registered in the country so far this year up to the month of May.
In the Shannonside region, Co Roscommon saw the highest registrations at 711 vehicles.
This is followed by Co Longford with 353 new cars registered, and 306 in Co Leitrim.
Overall, there was a 2.7 per cent decrease of car registrations in the Shannonside region compared to the same time last year.
While 113 electric vehicles were recorded locally in the first five months of 2025.
Nationally, imported used cars have seen a 7.9 per cent rise in May 2025, while 12,392 new electric cars have been registered, a 23.3 per cent increase on the same time last year.
