Some 27,000 people attended the community protest against the Mercosur trade agreement in Athlone yesterday.
3,845 tractors were also present, in a demonstration organised by Independent Ireland.
They were protesting against the trade agreement between the EU and Brazil, Argentina, Paraguay and Uruguay.
It was backed by EU ambassadors on Friday but also needs to be supported by the majority of the 720 MEPs in the European Parliament - this vote is likely to take place between February and April.
The Irish government and farmers here are concerned about the impact it will have on our beef market.
