The number of drink and drug-driving checkpoints in Leitrim and Sligo decreased by a quarter in the space of a year.
There were 555 in the third quarter of 2024 - but only 414 in the same period last year, a drop of 25.4 per cent.
There was a 7.9 per cent increase across Mayo, Roscommon and Longford in the same period.
Nationally, checkpoints decreased by 7.5 per cent in this period, with a total of 11,958 tests carried out.
