21 wannabe presidential-election candidates have asked Longford County Council for their nomination.
These independent candidates need four local authorities to back them to get on the ballot paper on October 24th.
Longford council is holding a special meeting next Monday to hear from candidates, before they make a decision.
The deadline for people to register to vote is October 7th.
