128 schools in the Shannonside region don't have a class for students with special educational needs.
Junior Education Minister Michael Moynihan says there are 30 in Leitrim, 27 in Longford and 71 in Roscommon.
The vast majority are primary schools - with only five secondary schools in the Shannonside region having no special classes.
