Baby Asqa Samad was born to parents Farzana and Afsal in the Galway hospital at 1.21 this morning.

The project has been worked on for several years, after the town was badly affected by flooding in 2009 and 2015.

They will operate in speed enforcement zones, areas that have a history of speed-related collisions, in an effort to take a 'proactive approach' in reducing road fatalities.

It involves a 6-kilometre road around the town, from the Dublin Road to the Boyle Road.

Longford Fire Service and Gardaí responded to the scene and no injuries have been reported.
